A Special General Meeting is called for Sunday 25 May at 1pm.
Job descriptions for all these roles are posted on the Club website in the Members' area. Anyone volunteering for these roles will be well supported as none of the members stepping down are leaving the club or leaving Auckland. We'll be available to assist new committee members to take up roles in a successful and reputable club with a great history and hopefully a great future as well.
Please refer to the mailout for further info.
Reminder: SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING
Dear Member,
On 28 March we gave notice to all members of a Special General Meeting (SGM) to be held on Sunday 25 May at 1pm at the Remuera Club, 27-33 Ohinerau Street, Remuera.
That meeting is now less than 2 weeks away. The continued existence of our 56 year old club will be decided at this meeting. We urge you to attend so that any decisions made have the widest possible membership participation.
Based on professional advice, the Committee now recommends that in the event of The Club being wound up, the distribution of funds will be in line with the existing provisions of the club constitution and that we would seek recommendations from the membership on where any remaining funds should be directed.
Since our March email, we have received expressions of interest from a small number of members who are willing to help run and administer The Club.
While this is encouraging, we still don't have any volunteers willing to take on the key officer roles required for the Club to continue operating. These roles must be filled if we are to comply with The Club's constitution AND the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022 that comes into force in April 2026 (next year).
Therefore the following key roles need to be confirmed before or at the SGM.
- President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- 3 further committee members to join existing members Sue Jenness (Membership Officer) and Robin O'Connor (Past President & Life Member)
- A total committee of 8 (3 Officers and 5 ordinary members)
In addition, we need to identify:
- A Magazine Editor
- Vice-President - can come from within the committee
The Club currently has 239 members and has over $60k in the bank. Over 100 new members have joined the Club in the last 5 years and we've run 14 well attended events over the last 12 months, including the wonderful Jaguar Leadfoot Festival in February.
By most measures, our club is very active and successful. The crisis we face is simply one of leadership and administration.
Please seriously consider volunteering to join the committee or taking on one of the key roles. Email us at jagclubak@gmail.com or volunteer in person at the SGM.
The future of The Club is in your hands.
The Agenda for the Meeting was emailed to all members.
We look forward to seeing you on the 25th May.
Best wishes
Jaguar Drivers Club (Auckland) Committee
